Any girl who enjoys writhing around on top of comics is okay in my book. I might even let her crease my copy of Superboy #68 to witness that. Ana describes herself as an “old school goth turned rockabilly girl who listens to gangsta rap.” She’s also a “career geek” who likes to dress up in superhero costumes and in a bunch of other sexy get-ups, too. Favorite Costumes: There was this kid at Florida SuperCon with a cardboard box Megatron that actually didn’t suck. Personally, Superheroes (and villains!) are my favorite, but anything froofy and Rococo will go a long way with me as well.

What made you start dressing up like superheroes?
The superhero costuming community is a lot less stressful and petty than the anime cosplay community. And, unlike many convention-goers, I look good in spandex without a girdle.

You say on your MySpace profile that getting into cosplay is one of your biggest regrets. Why is that?
When I first got into cosplay, it seemed natural, because I loved anime and I loved costuming. But after awhile, the tally of my own personal vendettas — and those against me — began to outweigh the reasons I loved participating in the first place. Luckily, I’ve found a community that isn’t territorial and petty, and doesn’t let personal bullshit get in the way of the reason why we’re all here in the first place. Beyond that, it’s nice to not have to worry about being judged for who you talk to, who talks to you, who takes your picture, who else has done the costume you’re doing, people impersonating you, and — I swear to God — whether or not you use a certain color scheme on LiveJournal. Plus, the body odor doesn’t help.

Which of your outfits gets the most attention?
Dark Phoenix. But I’ve got so many more incredible pieces in the works that I’m sure that answer will be changing soon.

What kind of guys are attracted to a woman in costume?
I think deep down — at some point, every man was 13 years old — if you can both appeal to his nostalgia and stir his attraction any guy is capable of fantasizing about a woman in costume.

What was the most unwanted attention you ever got at a convention?
One time, not even in costume, the HNIC of an anime club set about a riot because I was even in attendance.

What was the geekiest moment in your life?
When I bit the head off a chicken — for real.

Tell me about your podcast Just Push Play.
It’s actually the failed leftovers of a television experiment my (now) fiance produced — unfortunately he hired two buffoons who had never worked in television to star as the hosts, and it just spiraled out of control from there. Well, the end result was my co-host and I got a podcast, the producer got a hot chick who likes comics — shake a stick at that! We’re both former radio people: Gary, a music director; I, a syndicated talk-show host. Then on the way to the show one day, we picked this kid CR off the streets. Now we meet every week in The Martini Room Studios and dish out views on topics ranging from video game sales (booooring) to the right-wing media taking over the airwaves. Sometimes we sprinkle news in, but that’s what the Internet’s for. We’re geeks at heart and let our own interests dictate the flow of the show. We’re also very fortunate to be part of a larger media network that works hard to bring good radio to anyone with an open port.

Someone recently asked me what numbers we pull. I shrugged and told him I don’t know — and honestly, don’t care. If I wanted to do this for money, I’d be at Clear Channel. I do this for fun. But why should you listen to Just Push Play out of the trillion other podcasts? Simple, I’m on it!

Now though…I’m a few years older and wiser; I could totally kick the ass out of a television show. And don’t think that I won’t in the near future.

What would a Bizarro version of Ana Aesthetic be like?
Just like me, only with a goatee — so you could tell she was evil.

Ya think someone was trying to suggest something with those old-timey Wonder Woman covers?

While Superman battled Lex Luthor and Batman went toe to toe with The Joker, Wonder Woman faced the dreaded Phallic Symbol. In the early days of the comic, penis-shaped objects were always out to get the Amazon (who made her debut in 1941), and month after month she’d found herself straddling a rocket, bomb, or skyscraper. Why wouldn’t she? She was only a woman, after all, and rockets look so much like — well — you know. But the phallic fun didn’t end with rockets or torpedoes. The Wonder Woman artists could turn anything into a stand-in for the male genitalia — as when the Amazon princess is the meat in a skyscraper sandwich or when, only a few issues earlier, she mounts another skyscraper and seems to be rubbing its tip. They even made a damn shark look phallic! Either these guys were having a little perverted fun or they were subconsciously using Wonder Woman to work out their bomb-related sex fantasies. Regardless, it made for some awesome comic book covers.

Blogzarro has done it again! We got the final photos for the “Transformers” movie, crash-landing in theaters on July 4, 2007. The movie, directed by Michael Bay, stars Shia LeBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Jon Voight, Bernie Mac, and the voice of Hugo Weaving (Megatron).
