My First Wii Injury
By James A. on August 16th, 2007
I’ve sustained my first injury after obtaining the freakin’ coolest gaming console since the Vectrex, and I plan on getting plenty more.
I got the Wii a few days ago after many visits and phone calls to video game stores in several cities in the Northeast. (It seems to be a popular item.) So, after my wallet took a hit, my body was ready for the damage of using the Wii controller.
After figuring out how to hook the ball in the bowling game, I vowed not to stop until I broke a score of 200 (a score I’ve never attained in real life). After an hour of wildy swinging my arm at my TV and twisting the controller at the perfect angle, I reached my goal: a score of 213. Now, for the last two days, my shoulder has been sore. Okay, it’s not the worst injury in the world. But I suspect this will be just the first of many Wii-related injuries. I’m planning on re-injuring my back with the baseball game “The Bigs” and hurting my knees with tennis.
So, not only am I going blind because of the computer; I’ll probably wind up in physical therapy because of the Wii. Or I’ll possibly put a hole through my TV screen as I attempt to throw a stike.
Thank you, Wii, now I can hurt myself in the luxury of my own home.

My wife whipped my butt with a 259 (9 strikes, 7 in a row). My son even got a picture of it. I won’t let it go until I get it back.

I’ll probably break my arm to get to 300. I did get 5 strikes in a row once. But there’s always that one time the ball doesn’t hook.

I’m all down with the Wii and all, but I may just cry that you referenced my first ever game system – the Vectrex.

Be careful. I got the wii about a month ago and my first injury came at the hands of “The Bigs”. Now I can’t move my wrist. But it was worth it.

Ouch. My right arm and shoulder are killing me, in spite of Advil. I only played for 1/2 an hour thinking I would get some exercise. I did tennis, bowling, golf and boxing and woke up with the pain. I hope it is better tomorrow.

How can you hurt yourself playing wii? I have a wii and I play it like 8 hours a day and I don’t get hurt! It’s sad that Americas so out of shape that when so people try to help all the over weight video game lovers people get hurt!

It’s very easy to get hurt, or ‘sore’ from playing the WII. It might not even be that you’re out of shape, but that you’re using muscles you normally wouldn’t use in day to day activity. Unless you really play all of those games on some sort of regular basis, you’re bound to have some type of soreness after the first time you play.

I also had a Wii injury, mine was the Hula Hoop. Threw my hip out. Had to go for X-rays. Had the biggest bruise on my hip. BE CAREFUL.

I kid you not—I went to a retirement home to help provide the music for a little while, and a grandma bowled a perfect Wii bowling game. It was amazing!

I got my first wii injury on new years. my cousin and i got very intense during a game of sword fighting. I’m in shaoe and play sports all year round and work out. I was sore for over a weak thinking that i just wasn’t used to playing wii but then realized i had really big and long swings. It has been a month and the pain worsened today after i heard a pop during my goalie practice. of course a bad shoulder doesnt stop me from having fun and playing sports. ai was told by my goalie coach i hyperextended it. Im going to the doctors today. Be careful while playing wii and remember it is very sensitive so you dont need wild swings. I let it get out of control.
