Weekend Box Office: Pirates’ Booty
By James A. on May 28th, 2007
“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” failed to beat the records recently set by “Spider-Man 3″ and “Shrek the Third.” The third “Pirates” movie earned $115.1 million in its first three days of release, while Spidey took in $151.1 million and Shrek grossed $121.6 million. But “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” did set another record — best four-day Memorial Day weekend opening. The movie earned $142.1 million, surpassing the previous record holder, “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which grossed $122.9 million last year.
Totals are for the four-day Memorial Day weekend, May 25-28.

OK Pirates 1 was allright. Not great not terrible, but allright. I didn’t see two and I haven’t seen three yet, but I bet you 10 times out of 10 they get worse. Shrek the Third was like watching talented actors read with no emotion a book on different species of birds. Horrible. Where was all the adult jokes and energy. And WHOA too many new characters. If you are going to do a new Shrek movie, do one on the gingerbread man. He was the only funny part of the movie. Spiderman 3. Holy Dog Fish! Was that horrible or what? Same writers and directors and actors. Ummm what happened? Did you want to make Spider-man the musical? The fight scenes were terrific and Bruce Campbell’s scenes was five stars, the rest of it played out like a Mike Nichols/John Hughes Teen angst tear jerker with scenes stolen from the Mask and Saturday Night Fever. Those are not for Spider-Man. I am looking forward to Bug from Bill and Waitress with Kerri and Nathan. They both rule.More people need to see 28 Weeks Later. It was pretty decent compared to the first one. A couple of cheesy segments but they made up for it. I reccommend it. I will see Disturbia but probably on HBO or on dvd. Georgia Rule. I’d rather collect stamps and not have cable then see that movie. Fracture I want to see, but have not had the chance. and Wild Hogs…see Georgia Rule.

I’ve heard so many people say they hated Spider-Man 3 (though I’ve also heard a bunch of people say they loved it). I had a great time watching it. I wasn’t a big fan of the first two movies. I think people who liked the first two don’t like the third, and vice versa. I got such a big kick out of Spidey 3. Could it have been because I was in such a good mood that day, being that I got to see the movie in IMAX three days before it was released
