Everyone loves a good villain and with Spider-Man there is so much to love. The web-slinger probably doesn’t appreciate it, but he has the most formidable, and coolest, enemies of any superhero. But some are cooler than others. Blogzarro is here to give you the best of the best. |

20. Chameleon
The Chameleon was the first supervillain to face Spider-Man, way back in “Amazing Spider-Man #1″ (1963). He is a master of disguise and a spy. He is also the half-brother of Kraven. |

19. Mysterio
Ol’ crystal ball head first appeared in “Amazing Spider-Man #13.” He has proven to be one of Spider-Man’s most elusive and persistent adversaries over the years. And like Doug Henning, he is a master of illusion. |

18. Morlun
Morlun is one of Spider-Man’s more recent foes. Created by J. Michael Straczynski and John Romita Jr., Morlun is a descendent of a race called the Ancients who feed on “totem” people. He once tore out Spider-Man’s eye and ate it and then broke Mary Jane’s arm. |

17. The Burglar
The man who killed Uncle Ben has never been officially named. The so-called Burglar, who taught us all that “with great power comes great responsibility,” is the one bad guy who has never stopped haunting Spidey and has caused the web-slinger more misery than any one else. |

16. Shocker
Shocker is probably the coolest supervillain in a quilted costume. He wears a pair of gauntlets that shoot out concentrated blasts of air that vibrate at intense frequencies, and though one of Spidey’s more rationale foes, the web-slinger still taunts him by calling him Mr. Quilt-Man. |

15. Kraven
Kraven was the greatest big game hunter in the world and he was bent on capturing the biggest game, namely Spider-Man. It took him 20 years, but he finally did it. After capturing Spider-Man, Kraven the Hunter committed suicide, since there wasn’t anything left for him to do. |

14. Vulture
He might look like an old fogey in an fur collar, but the Vulture is a vicious enemy. Along with Electro, he once almost beat Spider-Man to death. Vulture, aka Adrian Toomes, first appeared in “Amazing Spider-Man #2″ (1963). |

13. Hobgoblin
After the Green Goblin’s apparent death, Roderick Kingsley discovered Norman Osborn’s lair and thus was born the Hobgoblin. Though he was scarier looking than the Green Goblin, he wasn’t as powerful. Besides, Kingsley was a fashion designer, which is scary for different reasons. |

12. Electro
Another early foe of Spider-Man’s, Electro was really Maxwell Dillon, an electric company worker with an inferiority complex. He is a founding member of the Sinister Six. |

11. Rhino
The Rhino is one of Spider-Man’s most powerful foes, but he’s also one of the stupidest. You pretty much have to be to wear that get-up. The Rhino, who began life as a poor immigrant from Russia, likes to rob banks and ram his enemies. |

10. Scorpion
The Scorpion is a result of J. Jonah Jameson’s madness. Jonah hired detective Mac Gargan to subject himself to an experiment that would endow him with the characteristics of a scorpion in order to defeat Spidey. The experiment worked, but Gargan went insane and turned on Jonah. |

9. J. Jonah Jameson
No one has harassed Spider-Man more than Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson. Proving that the pen is mightier than the sword, Jameson has been a constant pain in the ass. His hatred and jealousy has even led him to hire villains to hunt down Spider-Man. |

8. Jackal
The Jackal is another scientist gone mad. Obsessed with Gwen Stacy, Dr. Miles Warren combined his DNA with that of a jackal after her death. He later cloned Gwen and Spidey and even persuaded the Punisher to hunt down Spidey. |

7. Kingpin
Don’t let his obesity fool you. The Kingpin is surprisingly agile. But it’s his intelligence as a criminal mastermind that makes him such a worthy foe. He recently put a hit on Spider-Man which resulted in Aunt May being shot by a sniper. That can’t go well for Kingpin. |

6. The Lizard
In a fight between a spider and a lizard, you think the lizard would win. Either way, the Lizard has given Spider-Man a run for his money. The Lizard is really doctor Curt Connors, who ingested some experimental reptile serum much to his detriment. |

5. Carnage
If Venom is a bad mother, Carnage is super-bad. Carnage is a combination of the Venom symbiote and serial killer Cletus Kasady. He’s not only stronger than Spider-Man; he’s also more powerful than Venom. Yikes! |

4. Sandman
Sandman, whose real name is William Baker, has one of the more unusual super abilities. He can absorb sand and reconstitute in into his body. He likes to punch Spidey with his sledgehammer fists and create sandstorms. He also goes by the alias Flint Marko. |

3. Doctor Octopus
Doctor Octopus, affectionately called Doc Ock, is one of Spider-Man’s oldest foes. The portly mad scientist’s mechanical tentacles have given Spidey plenty of trouble over the years. |

2. Green Goblin
The Green Goblin ended the Silver Age of comics when he pushed Gwen Stacy off the Brooklyn Bridge in 1973. Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis in the late ’60s and early ‘70 was really the insane industrialist Norman Osborn. |

1. Venom
Venom is one bad-looking baddie. He makes the Green Goblin look like Kermit the Frog. Venom is the result of a symbiote bonding with Eddie Brock, Peter Parker’s rival at the Daily Bugle. His comparable powers exceed Spider-Man’s, making him one tough adversary. |

good list. if they’re ranked with venom being the best villian, then i only disagree with carnage being below the sandman. also carnage is the spawn of venom’s symbiote, hence the similar but different strengths and weaknesses.

Kingpin and many other badguys rotated around the marvel universe.
Dr. Doom may have been originally a Fantastic Four badguy, but Spidey gets a taste of him from time to time.
Kingpin has his hands in everything, which means he probably owns stock, if not controlling stock, in Oscorp.
Daredevil, Electra, Spiderman, and the XMen are all in the same universe, and thus could conceivably be in the same movie.
In the Marvel universe, all heros and villians are mutants. All mutants come in one of three forms:
1) natural born mutants (xmen, comic-book version of electra)
2) accidently created mutants (spiderman, daredevil)
3) intentionally created mutants (green goblin)
Now, in non-xmen series, most natural mutants are very low key in their mutations, where you have to wonder if they’re mutants or not, though Stan Lee has officially said they are.
In the original Electra, it is not a spiritual technique, but that Electra’s own innate feline healing power that prevents her death.
In Doc Octavius, his intelligence is due to mutation.
They have low key mutants to underscore the fact that humanity is filled with real life mutants. People who have perfect pitch and can play any instrument without study, those exceptionally talented atheletes like Kurt Hennig (Mr. Perfect), Einstein and Hawking for their abilities to perceive beyond the boundaries of the third dimension itself, and people like me who due to a genetic disease is missing two bars of dna at the bottom of the helix. I’m literally a mutant, though the only ‘power’ I might be considered to have is intelligence. The two missing bars really manifests as a rare form of ALS. One I’ve bested so far.
Again, Stan Lee drew upon his observations of himself and of life. He saw mutants everywhere, and archetyped them into heros and villians with super powers, yet very identifyable characters. Not necessarily perfect role models, but people with real problems we can relate to.

Good list, however i always had a fondness for Doc Ock over Venom any day. The whole Venom thing kinda left me cold as compared to the more developed personalities. We had the Lizard ,a character we could care about. The enforcer who was a disgruntled employe gone postal, or mysterio a similar gone postal type. The venom thing just left me cold. Not that I didn’t appreciate the story arch, I did, but in comparison with the more thought out and developed characters from the silver age, i don’t see why it tops the list except for the latest movie.

While I hate and despise Venom and Carnage this list is good, I do agree Venom was one of his more B.A. adversaries, but Carnage shouldn’t be on the list, he IMHO is the Cancer of the Spider-Man universe.

Nice List but shouldn’t Carnage be switched with the Green Goblin. But anyway, they should probably bring back Venom along with Doc Oc some how in Spiderman 4 because if they want some good bad guys for it they need Carnage and possibly another guy like Scorpian or something. And for Spiderman 4, they should some how combine Carnage and Doc Oc at the end of the movie so Carnage has 4 metal arms coming out of him.

GG’s #2? Are You kidding? Here’s a list of the things he has done to Spiderman.
-Beat Spiderman numerous times(more than most)
-Killed Gwen Stacy
-Killed Ben Reily, who Spiderman thought of as his brother
-Turned Peter’s best friend against him
-Put Flash Thompson in a coma
-Was the cause of the Clone Saga
-Made Peter believe Aunt May was dead, mentally scarring him for years
-Dropped a building on Spiderman
-Created the Hobgoblin and many more Goblin threats
-Was a basic funder for the Spider Slayers
Venom’s cool, but he’s got nothing on Norman.
Also, GG2 should be on this list! If giving Spiderman such massive trauma isn’t bad, I don’t know what is!

Um why is Venom # 1 and the
Scorpion #10?… They are the same guy now. I would figure Scorpion would have at least improved his rep as of late.
My prefrence would be for Norman as number one, on acount of his recent construction of the new thunderbolts.

It seems odd to me that you include J.J. Jameson as a top-20 villain; of course he’s been a major problem, but he’s hardly a super-villain.
Not only have your top 4 already been used in the film trilogy (and your 17 and 9, after a fashion), but Lizard is either a non-option, or they need to use Dylan Baker to play him (Baker played Dr. Connors in Spidey 2-3).
That is, of course, unless they do what WB did with Harvey Dent in the Batman movies. Billy Dee Williams played Dent in Batman 1, but they recast it in Batman Forever so Tommy Lee Jones could be Two-Face. (Aaron Eckhart, who plays Dent in the upcoming Dark Knight, would be an even cooler Two-Face.)
It seems inevitable that a Spiderman 4 would feature Carnage (introducing Venom sets it up too well), but I’d rather see Scorpion–or maybe Kraven. I’m a sucker for classic villains, even if their outfits are dopey.

Unfortunately, not only have your top 4 been used in the trilogy (and 17–and 9, to an extent), but the Lizard is out unless they plan to use Dylan Baker in the role–the actor who played Dr. Connors in Spidey 2-3. That wouldn’t be the end of the world–he’s adequate, but certainly not a superstar. And it might be that they have a largely CGI Lizard in mind anyways.
Their other choice would be to recast. Green Goblin should be 1. He’s meant to be Spiderman’s most dangerous enemy. Venom outta be ranked at number 2. He’s craziest and he’s one helluva bad guy that looks pretty F-ed in the head. Also, I agree, Carnage should be higher. That person who put Sandman higher than Carnage is kidding themselves. Carnage should be 4 and Sandman 5. But I’m not going to screw with you, Venom and Carnage are simply the coolest.

This list is terrible; it doesn’t take into account ANYTHING that occured in the comics. Here’s my list, which I think is much better because it ranks villains based on what they have accomplished in the comics as opposed to simply ranking them based on their coolness factor:

Nice list, but Mysterio deserves a better rating. I personally think the list should be rated by coolness of character, or how hard a time the villains have given SM, not power. Of course, the most grief was given out by the Green Goblin. Does anyone else think that Kraven and Mysterio shooting themselves was lame, lame, lame?

ok,first i already did my list and for the people that read the top 20,if u read carnage its says something real true that is this: If Venom is a bad mother, Carnage is super-bad. Carnage is a combination of the Venom symbiote and serial killer Cletus Kasady. He’s not only stronger than Spider-Man; he’s also more powerful than Venom. Yikes!.see carnage is better and dudes u gotta see monster ock shit man thats fucking scarry well,but it maked me laugh when it says: Venom makes the Green Goblin look like Kermit the Frog,lol well peace and carnage rulez!!!!!

I have a Marvel poster of spider man nad villains. There is a woman dressed in all black with white hair and glasses, I think her name might be Chloe Mane, based on a post on another blog, but I couldn’t tell if this was real or not. Who is this person, my kids are asking me, and I have no idea.

Okay, let’s clear a few things up here. As you can probably tell, I’m a little biased, but so is nearly everyone creating these lists.
I have issues with this list, so I’m going to give my own list and reasons why I think my list is more accurate:
20) Carnage: This guy has done even less than Venom. He’s killed several unnamed civilians and been a complete jerk, but he is still more interesting than Big Wheel (barely).
19) Venom: What has this guy done exactly to merit so much attention? He stalks Spider-Man dressed as a giant pudding cup and waggles his tongue. Oooohhh, scary!
18 ) Morlun: The most recent addition to Spider-Man’s Big 20, Morlun lasted too short a time to deserve much beyond Rank 18.
17) Hobgoblin: A cheap, rip-off of the Green Goblin, Hobby has nevertheless proven a decent villain. If he had even a spark more originality than revamping the Goblin’s color scheme, he might be more interesting.
16) Electro: The Human Dynamo. He’s insanely powerful, but can be beaten by a bucket of water or touching his own toes. It’s really hard to get respect when you can be defeated by your own feet.
15) Rhino: He’s big, grey, and about as subtle as a freight train. Like the others thus far, this brute hasn’t done much PERMANENT damage to Spidey (he’s too stupid to try) but he did defeat him recently (even after his recent power-up) but was unable to collect his reward from the Chameleon before his capture, and Spidey escaped to die another day.
14) Scorpion: The first anti-Spider, Mac Gargan would have gotten a higher rank had he not decided to coat himself in chocolate pudding and try to emulate a really lame villain.
13) Sandman: A very deadly pile of walking kitty litter, Sandman has always been one of Spidey’s toughest adversaries. He hasn’t done much to actually hurt Spidey (beyond a couple of fights).
12) Shocker: He nearly kiled Spider-Man during a team-up with Trapster. Additionally, he does not have the inflated ego possessed by so many others in his line of work. He’s a proffessional.
11) Jackal: The man responsible for all the Spider-Clones running around (I swear he had a factory for these guys somewhere) he turned Spider-Man’s life upsidedown by convincing him he was a clone. He’d of merited a highr rank had he had any sense of style or WHEN TO STOP, but as it is …
10) Vulture: A flying old guy in a bird suit. This guy might look like a push-over, but Vulture was responsible for the death of Aunt May’s longtime boyfriend Nathan Lubensky AND killed the android Mr. and Mrs. Parker, dealing a crippling emotional blow to Peter.
9) Mysterio: My all time favorite super-villain. Although I’m slightly biased, you’ve got to hand it to the guy. He “killed” Aunt May once, meriting a Top 10 listing, framed Spider-Man for a major robbery, convinced Spider-Man that he was a mere 6 inches tall, and has been a thorn in Spidey’s side for nearly as long As Ock and Chameleon. On top of all this, he has no super-powers and yet has nearly killed the wall-crawler a number of times.
8 ) J. Jonah Jameson: Although not actally a villain, this newspaperman has attacked Spidey continuously AND gotten away almost scott free.
7) Lizard: Although completely unintentionally, this guy causes Spidey so much grief simply by being under his fist. A friend of Peter Parker, it hurts Spider-Man to have to wail on his pal. On top of that, the Lizard looks cool and is a very formidable opponent.
6) Kingpin: Although he is more a Daredevil villain in recent years, Wilson Fisk masterminded the plot that nearly killed Aunt May and caused the incredibly dissappointing One More Day and Brand New Day stories. Thanks a lot, tubby. Still, he deserves a fairly high place in the Gallery of Villains.
5) Chameleon: The first super-villain Spidey ever faced, Dmitri Smerdyakov merits Number 5 for capturing and drugging Spider-Man, discovering his secret identity, nearly raping (and successfully traumitizing) his wife, and simply being Spideys first nemesis. He also convinced Spider-Man his parents were still alive, a plan that nearly broke Parker when the robotic duplicates died.
4) The Burglar: If I need to explain this to you, you probably can’t understand the rest of this list anyways.
3) Kraven the Hunter: Not many would expect this particular nut-job to be Number 3, but he earned this place. The Hunter defeated Spidey, buried him alive, impersonated him, and defeated Vermin all by himself (Spidey needed Captain America’[s help). Then he shot himself in the head, happy as the proverbial clam.
2) Dr. Octopus: One of Spider-Man’s most persistant adversaries, “Doc Ock” truely deserves the title of Spidey’s arch-nemesis. He has plagued the wall-crawler more than any other villain and has been the cause of more misery in Spider-Man’s life than any other villain, except …
1) Green Goblin: This mean, green fighting-machine killed Spider-Man’s (first) true love, caused Parker’s best friend to go insane and follow the Green Goblin legacy, and has been the most vile, cruel, and sadistic Spider-Man villain to date.

Although I’ve already mentioned my favorites, here how I think the should have gone: 1. Green Goblin- who’s screwed up spidey’s life more than him? and every ability he has is equal with the web-head,2. Doctor Octopus- the smartest guy the wall crawler has ever faced, his past is a lot like peter’s, he has lead the sinister six, and although he has done some very personal things to peter, his personal events just aren’t as cold as the goblin’s, 3. Venom- coolest,marvel,bad guy,EVER!!!!! athough he was crap in Spidey 3. the suit once was peter’s costume, until he learned it was making him evil. Peter then got rid of the symbiote, and it bonded with Eddie Brock, and sweetness was born. I’m gonna talk later, some more venom talk next.

also, he’s the dark mirror spidey, name me ONE super hero who doesn’t have an anti-version of his/her self. Plus, when he came around, Gobby was presumed dead, Ock wasn’t seen that much, and spidey was fighting minor crooks, the web-head needed a new king rouge bad, and venom came to relive people. he has always been my favorite, and he looks cool, 4. J. Jonah . Jamenson- not really a villian, but attacks spider-man, and unknowingly, his freelance photo taker, peter parker’s actions nonstop, and has funded his own attempts to crush the web head, and is the punching bag of many a villian, great part of the cast.,5. The Buglar,- he maybe minor, but without him, there would be NO wall crawler. Simple as that.

6.Kingpin- Although his main place in marvel is the archenemy of daredevil, he was born in the amazing spider-man story: Spider Man No More!, he took advantedge of spidey’s absance, and crime went wild,and has ever since been one of marvel’s best bad guys. Plus, he rules New York’s crime world, that’s cool. 7. The Lizard- half man, half beast, yes, it’s been done too many times. But what makes him great is the tragicness of him, in human form, he’s a good friend of peter. As the lizard, he’s a human hating, terrible, ugly monster that makes spidey upset to fight him. His family has been suffering, and his life has turned to rot. sooooooooooooooooo saaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8. The Chameleon- Half brother of Kraven The Hunter, he’s got the coolest powers: shapeshifting, skin can turn to clothes, and perfect voice mimicing. But it is not the powers that put him at number 8, it’s what he did. What he did was make peter think his parents were alive. This made peter overjoyed, only to learn they were robots, so then spidey fought the chameleon, and the vulture destroyed the androids,speaking of,9. The Vulture- He may look like he needs to be in a retirement home, but he’s a crafty and deadly foe. He almost killed the web head,he’s been in every sinister six,and murdered Nathan Lubesky, who was going to be Aunt May’s new husband

10. The Scorpion- As a result of Jonah’s hatred for spidey, Mac Gargan gained superpowers and a suit similar to a scorpion, but he was driven insane, and now has the goals of killing both JJJ and the web head. Peter also showed his cold side to this guy by beating him nearly to death after Mac Gargan sold his costume. 11. Carnage- If Eddie Brock painted his costume red,took steroids, taped swords to his arms, and had The Joker’s personality, he would be the same thing as carnage. Although to me he’s absurdly overrated,he’s still pretty cool. Just needs to do something personal to spidey to get him higher, maybe some day he will.

12. Jackal- the man who made the spidey clones you see running around, he thought spider-man was the one who killed his beloved Gwen Stacy [wtc?! he's a professer in love with one of his students, freakin' weird] He cloned peter and gwen, and the peter clone ended up being, guess who? Ben Reily. during the clone saga, he teamed up with norman osborn, who he learned was the real killer of gwen, which pissed him off. 13. Kraven The Hunter- he beat,buried, and pretended to be, spider-man. he’s been quite a pain to the web head, and he is the half brother of the chameleon. Kraven wanted to prove he was the world’s best hunter, so he took a witch doctor potion and set to capture the wall crawler.

this is a list of GREATEST… not strongest… i would hafta say the Green Goblin shouldve been 1st, bcuz of who he is… very smart rich powerful man that knew so much about peter… plus he was a GREAT inventor… (pumpkin bombs, flying razor bats, goblin glider, different gas vapors, etc…) Norman has had his hand in alot of things goin on wrong in parker’s life… cant knock the Venom choice… he’s definately the coolest, and brought life to the whole comic… Carnage too… Chameleon shouldnt be up there… i wish the Fly was still around, that wouldve been his spot… or Hydro man.

In a batlle beatween carnage and venom depeanding where they are venom would probly win but carnage v.s. spiderman carnage would win but spiderman v.s. venom anybody so it al depeans on where they are if it in a plas where there’s alot of noise spiderman or carnage can beat venom im not saying venom should be last but depeanding on what there judging by carnage should be first venom second.

this is the best list: 20-burglar :he is the easiest boss 19-j jonah jameson-not dangerous so much but very grumpy 18-chameleon-he cant mimic ALL the powers of his victims hes not at all dangerous when it comes to combat 17-kraven-shocker can easily beat him like this:he takes out a weapon shocker can shoot and blast it then hes nothing but human without a weapon so shockers blast can finish him off 16-kingpin-this fatty has a cane that shoots lasers once its dodged shocker can blast the cane then the human 17-mysterio - this lamos special effects can easily be blasted by the shocker and u know once his effects are gone he is a normal human and so can be blasted by shocker 16-rhino-this losers horn can be easily dogded even by burglar and once hes stuck shocker can blast him to tim-buc-to 15-electro-once his blast his stuck in a generator or hes in water or covered with water his electric overload can easily weaken him so that shocker can blast him 14-scorpion-his tail can be stuck so that shocker can blast him 13-lizard-a wild rodeo! lizard can be defeated by shocker . shocker can shoot the antidote right in his mouth and hes connors 12-morbius-once the sun is up morbius is a blasting bag for shocker in the night morbius can be defeated using a sun gun or shocker can just blast him 11-hydro man-his watery attacks are pretty dangerous but shocker can make him stay away from any water source and dehydrate him and…………………………………………BLAST HIM! 10-doc ock-his tenacles are useless once his tentacles are blasted by shocker hes an ordinary man like all other losers to die! 9-venom-deadly yet easy shocker can ring a thousand things and blast the symbiote like how it was blasted in spiderman 3 8-jackal-if he jumps on shocker with his drooling mouth shockers gonna blast him 7-vulture-can easily be blasted out of the air and to death by shocker 6-hobgoblin-same way how vulture can be defeated 5-shocker-my favourite award winner of third place of coolest villain and award winner of only villain looking cool in a quilted costume hes in top 5 maximum the other four people can defeat him thats what i dont like but i will contribute fully to make my favourite villain fearsome 4-green goblin- razor bats can cut off shockers arms to make him powerless 3-sandman -his sand attacks are nothing to be reckoned with if shocker blasts him hell regenerate from sand 2-carnage-u may be thinking y hes in second place answer is in number 1 villain carnages symbiote form is indestructible he can kill aybody and his attacks penetrate everybody except……………………………………..1-dr.doom-his armor is penetrable and his power cosmic !no matter even if carnage tries to break it it will never break so hes no. 1 sorry carnage fans

Well I am very happy with this list I really am and as a fan of Spider-Man since my child hood he did fight some of the coolest villains I ever seen to be honest with you guys I wanted Carnage to be higher on the list since he was my favorite villain of all and a great enemy/all to Venom.

Well, for one, Carnage is not a part of Venom, don’t know who got told that but I read it somwhere in these posts and decided to correct it. Carnage and Venom are both part of the same race of alien simbiotes. There are more then two, I beleive there are 9 in total. Another thing, Eddy Brock (AKA Venom) was not stupid, he was extremely intelligent, and extremely strong, he beat Spiderman many times because Eddy was willing to give his entire life to the simbiote. If any Spiderman Villian deserves to be number one its Venom.

come on with the carnage/venom crap..people get real, green goblin is spiderman’s #1 villain he has tortured peter’s mind, killed gwen stacy, made a clone, hired chameleon, scorpion, has a crime syndicate, owns os corp. and the daily bugle later on, had spidey break him out of jail. peter has nightmares about this guy. he makes a deal with mesphisto(ghostrider) just to escape the goblin, heck spidey was the goblin at 1 point. their relationship is too fragile, your best friend and his father…lets not forget goblin made spidey in the first place! his formula! his formula also gave birth to captain america! and he also kills scorpion who turns into the new venom later on..please stop it. marvel, wizard universe, and stan lee (the creator) all named goblin the best! not about a black suit, or being strong and lookin cool but for what he has don pyshically and mentally to spiderman throughout his career and life as peter parker, and continues to do so in the marvel civil war aftermath thunderbolts venom and carnage had battles with spidey, but spidey and goblin’s battles are not only more memerable but with a truly deeper meaning is contained within and no one has left an imprint on his life like goblin did as both harry and his father. norman (1st goblin) loves peter like a son and wants him to take over the goblin crown, he’s in love with him, he told peter in a letter once. he knows spider-man better than anyone else, and can kill him if he wants to..he’s too insane, and he’s spared spidey’s life on occassions, he is #1 and thats that, spidey and goblin are equal to batman and joker, they will never kill one another, the relationship is too deep, and is the 2nd best rivarly in all superheroes and villains slighty behind batman and joker

the best spiderman story is: revenge of the green goblin, where gwen stacy dies. it ends the silver age for comics and marks the 1st time an important character as died and not only died but not returning as well. this event broke peter in many ways. he fears the goblin, carnage and venom, he’ll fight but goblin knows who he is and the same goes the other way. goblin is super strong, intelligent, and is insane, his technologies include his gloves that fire off lazers, gas, and an 1,000 shock electrical volt, lets not 4get regeneration, he could have killed peter and aunt may so many times as he has had them kidnapped so many time..he prefers to play with spidey..cause its a game to him

there are 3 things you have to consider about the list.
1st is the popularity based of the
villain.
2nd the storyline of the villain.
3rd how unique and deadly the
villain is.
IMO here’s the list.
1. Venom
= the most popular villain in all
marvel and dc universe combined
(2nd is joker btw)
2. Carnage
= one of the best story arc in spiderman universe.
3. Green Goblin
= traditional ultimate villain.
4. Lizard
= one of the most popular villain in
spider-mans rouges list with good
story arc.
5. Doc Ock
= traditional villain.
6. Sandman
= just by being him
7. Electro
= became one of spideys strongest
opponent.
8. Kraven
= Good story.
9. Scorpion
= Great story arc.
10. Mysterio
= he may be looks weird but he
does sell.
11. Dr. Doom
= reason he’s not in top 10 because
he listed F4 as primary villain spider
man is just his secondary.

I think venom should be tougher than carnage and spider man 4 villians should be venom carnage and maybe the lizard but definetly venom and carnage have to fight in spider man 4.

well, first of all venom died in spiderman 3, so what makes you think that venom would be in spiderman 4.here is my thoughts for spiderman 4.The beginning of 4 shows gwen stacy at the top of a building very depressed for what peter did to her in spiderman 3.according to the comics, a battle between spiderman and green goblin occured. in an attempt to save gwen by spiderman, she dies by accident. i’d say that gwen kills herself to make a short story for her at the beginning of spiderman 4. j jonah jameson hires mac gargan to be a part of an experiment and becomes scorpion to defeat spiderman.the symbiote that connors kept escapes and carnage is created. connors ingests his experimental reptilian serum and becomes the lizzard. spiderman hears about a mutant terrorizing the city and goes after it.it turns out that there is two of them ( the lizzard and scorpion). he goes after the scorpion numerous times, getting closer to an ambush. later he discovers that the other mutant (connors) is connors and tries to save him. they only fight one time,but later found out each others identity,and team up to stop the scorpion and carnage

I’d say that Spidey’s archenemy would be Venom, closley followed by gg, doc ock, and carnage. I don’t think that they should bring Venom back in SM4, but definently not another goblin. I say that they should do the lizard, Kraven, but definitly Carnage. He rules, but not quite as much as Venom… he’s my favorite comic villain of all time. A if you like spider-man then you guys should check out Ultimate-Man, which will come into stores soon.

I dont think venom is better than all of them. He looks cool, but thats about it for me. I reckon Green goblin is the best villain. But everyone has their own favourite and yes venom is a very good villain. So i would agree with the list.
It sucks but. That they’ve allready done the four top villains in the films.
They should of left out venom. Because without venom i dont really wanna see carnage.

I think carnage should kill blackcat because it makes him more menacing.

i don’t really agree with the list in order of ranking. Except for the last four i think they are in their right places with an exception for venom beating green goblin. But i think vulture is better then rhyno and the jackel. And WTF? JJJ hes not a villain. He’s just a dick. Someone needs to redo this list and make it make sense. But atleast you actually did have all the best villains in there but it was from your point of veiw not the worlds so. FAIL

This is my list of 20 greatest supervillans. In my opinion, Burglar and J. Jonah Jameson don’t count cuz they’re not SUPER villians!
And Jameson is not a villian at all! Just a nuisance! So I replaced them with the last two! Which are real SUPER villians.
20. Hydro-Man
Not just a Spider-Man foe! A Sandman foe as well! He’s basically Sandman except instead instead of sand he’s water. And he got more well known since the animated series put him in the spotlight instead of Sandman. So I replaced them with the first
19. Morbius
Nicknamed the Living Vampire! He started the vampire era in the Marvel universe! He has been a dangerous Spider-Man villian at first. He’s super strong and he has lust for blood and Spider-Man has been his target now and then.
18. Chamelion
A master of camouflage and Spider-Man’s original villian. He has also fooled other people that Spider-Man was bad.
17. Shocker
Shocker has been close to defeating Spider-Man now and then. But sometimes an easy villian to Spider-Man as well. He is well known for his good looking yellow suit that gives him his power!
16. Rhino
One of Spider-Man’s strongest foes. But also one of his dumbest. This guy could even Hulk a run for his money. Almost!
15. Mysterio
This guy likes to play with Spider-Man’s mind! He’s a master illisionist with special effects.
14. Kraven
One of the greatest hunters in the Marvel universe. His goal was to catch Spider-Man and he finally succeeded at one point.
13. Scorpion
Made to take place of Spider-Man as a superhero. But then turned to crime and has a hatred over Spider-Man. So making him a deadly villian!
12. Vulture
A pretty bad Spidey villian! He killed Aunt May’s fiance and even stole Spider-Man’s youth for a time.
11. Jackal
A dangerous and creepy looking villian. This guy freakin cloned Spider-Man and also fooled him to think he wasn’t Spider-Man.
10. Kingpin
Probably more well known as a Daredevil villian but originally a Spider-Man villian. He has done some damage to Spider-Man. Like almost killing Aunt May!
09. Morlun
Spider-Man’s strongest and most supernatural villian. He’s also the newest. He almost killed Spider-Man more than once even gouging his eye out!
08. Electro
A very dangerous Spider-Man villian with a dangerous power. You can’t even touch him without being electrocuted.
07. Hobgoblin
A cunning and deadly Spider-Man foe! Almost just as dangerous and even more creepier looking than Green Goblin.
06. The Lizard
Not only dangerous for his hatred of humanity. But when Dr. Connors (alter ego of Lizard) is not the Lizard he is a good friend that Spider-Man can’t harm!
05. Sandman
You can’t even harm this guy by one punch! But he can harm you by shaping his arm to a hammer. Sandman has been a foe of Spider-Man for quite a while.
04. Carnage
Spider-Man’s darkest and deadliest villian. He’s nothing but pure evil and doesn’t care who he hurts or kills.
03. Doctor Octopus
One of Spider-Man’s oldest and most fought arch nemesis. Doctor Octopus have been around. Doctor Octopus has been the leader of the Sinister Six, (Spider-Man’s most deadly and famous villian group) engaged to Aunt May, to even almost even killing Spider-Man. He keeps getting more and more sinister every time they meet.
02. Venom
A very dangerous Spider-Man villian and the most popular. Although some consider him an anti- hero. He has the same power as Spider-Man and then some. Spider-Man can’t sense him with his Spider Senses. Venom’s main goal was to ruin Spider-Man’s life. Good thing he hasn’t done it yet but he has came close.
01. Green Goblin
If there is one who came close to ruin Spider-Man’s life it is the Green Goblin. He has killed Spider-Man’s girlfriend, Gwen Stacey and was even involved in the clone saga! He also was a leader in the Sinister Twelve and even possesed his best friend ( Harry Osborn [ Green Goblin II]) against Spider-Man!

Finally, a list that puts Venom as #1 and GG as #2. I also, I also like it how the movie villains are in the top 4, followed by major villains Carnage and Lizard. The only thing that I don’t like is how JJJ and the Burgler are on the list. They’ve never actually fought him. No costumes either. I also think that Kraven and Mysterio should be in the top 10. They totally messed with Spidey’s mind!

This list reads “90s fan” to me.
Venom as #1? Sorry, not even in the top 10. I know he’s popular with fans who followed Spider-Man in the early 90s, but there is no substance to the character.
Sandman is fairly boring in my opinion. He was more interesting to me when they redeemed him. Unfortunately that’s been undone.
The Hobgoblin deserves a little more respect on the list. Not as powerful as the Green Goblin? Well, he was more powerful than the Goblin was before his “return”. Norman Osborn has since been established a different kind of power, although I don’t know if it’s right to call him Green Goblin anymore.

Here’s my list. But it’s only top ten.
10. Scorpion ( I love this character because of his origen. He is also a worthy adversary to spiderman and their fights are quite even. Plus he’s a likable bad guy)
9.Lizard ( This guy is cool becuase he’s only a villain when he transforms. Otherwise he’s a good friend of Peter’s.)
8.Kraven ( The greatest hunter of all time. He even caught spiderman and then committed suicide because there wasn’t a hunt great enough left)
7. Vulture ( Visually good and would be great in a movie. Plus we can’t forget how he beat the shit out of spiderman with his fists. He’s tough for an old bastard)
6.Electro ( C’mon he’s got to be the coolest geeky villain of all time, plus he’s powerful as sh*t!)
5. Carnage ( He may be more powerful than venom but his alta ego isn’t close to Spiderman like eddie’s)
4. Sandman ( His personality can be a little boring but his power is awsome)
3. Doc Ock ( Visually the best. You can’t beat those mechanical arms)

Oh and heres my opinion for the rest of the flms–
Spidey 4: Lizard and Kraven ( These two villains will fit together really well into a film, I would love to see a battle between spiderman, kraven and Lizard.)
Spidey 5: Electro and Vulture ( Again I think they would fit together well, plus they are both very powerful and awsome villains)
And Spidey 6: This is a tough one but I would probably have to say Scorpion and Carnage( Just becuase they also would fit together well and I love scorpion’s origen. And you have to have the most powerfull villain last so there’s Carnage!!

In the comic books, Venom wasn’t really a bad guy. He just didn’t like Spider Man.
Carnage was cool because he had the best psycho-personality out of most of the villains, but when Venom and Spidey teamed up they could easily take him down. The symbiote is REALLY cool, so I think that’s why so many people like those two. Venom is a personal favorite of mine character-wise, but villain wise Green Goblin really should be #1. He really screwed up Spidey’s life! He shouldn’t have died in the movies, because they could have done a lot more with his character! My favorite Spider man character is Black Cat, but she’s not really a villain, just an anti-hero.

I really think that Mysterio should be #1, along with Chameleon at #2. I really think that Bruce Cambell should play Mysterio, and Javier Bardem as Kraven, Ben Kingsley as Vulture, Jerry O’Connell as Man Wolf, Ryan Phillipe(?) as Carnage, and Guy Pearce as Chameleon.

Carnage should not have been so high. He’s a one-note character that lacks depth. All does is kill, kill, kill, kill. He doesn’t even have a motivation he just does it. Yeah, what a great character all right.

Um I wasn’t into Spiderman like like my brother was, but I watched the cartoons and all the characters I seen pretty much suck so far. I also read a few comics as well. I atually watch themovies for the graphics over and over and over. I can’t take the villians serious enough and I thought part 3 would seem darker on the story. I think the Punisher would bring the darker and serious pain in the story and the clone of Spider man would play the part of Peter battling his own demons. I thought Venom would be cool in part 3 but he pretty much ruined it for Carnage. I reallydon’t want to look at a character similar to him now. Time to move on. We don’t need no more Peter Drama as well, just action. Stop wasting minutes on the film with googly eye moments.

i have to agree that the green goblin is the #1 nemesis of Spider-Man he brougth to him a lot of pain to him but comparing strength and cool factor, venom is better than the green goblin and no offense to carnage fans but Carnage is the weakest symbiote because the Venom symbiote now is on Mac Gargan (Scorpion) and Eddie Brock now is Anti-Venom and the 2 are stronger than Carnage and Toxin is stronger than Carnage too PS: The original Venom knows how to use his symbiote powers better than Carnage!!!!!!

well carnage could have been put a little bit higher.at least higher than that weak sandman.jameson,jackal and the burglar along with morlun should have been down the list.they are very weak.

brah come on.we all no venom is spideys arche enemy but come on.. carnage is wayy better than him so he should be one then venom.and where tha heck is toxin and anti-venom in this list????

Here is my list. I will tell you my list, and I will also explain it.
1). Carnage
2). Green Goblin
3). Sandman
4). Venom
5). Lizard
6). Doctor Octopus
7). Rhino
8). Hobgoblin
Carnage has defeated both Venom AND Spiderman together in combat.
Green Goblin is high because of his equips. Sandman is almost indestructable. So I put those too above Venom. And then Lizard with his super tough skin and powerful tail and then Doc Ock. Rhino is strong but he sure aint smart.
Those are wat I think are the strongest.

Hobgoblin is actually stronger than Green Goblin. He found Norman Osborn’s strength serum later on in the Spider- Man series and made himself stronger! Hobgoblin should be in the top three along with Doc Ock and Mysterio!

Has everybody forgot about Smythe and all the spider slayers he made for the kingpin. Fisk should be numberr one as he is the creator of the super six.
