Why is the Incredible Hulk always wearing purple pants?

The reason why no one else on the planet wears purple pants must be because Bruce Banner goes through dozens of pairs a month. Furthermore, I think it would be an obvious link between Bruce Banner and The Hulk — the only two guys on the planet who wear purple pants. If you want the Hulk, find the guy wearing the funky pants.

Bonus question: Wouldn’t it be wise — and remember, he’s a genius — for Banner to wear stretch pants? It would save him plenty of dough.
