Lt. Hikaru Sulu is gay. George Takei, who appeared in the original “Star Trek” series and six “Star Trek” movies, has boldly gone where Rock Hudson has gone before. The 68-year-old actor recently announced in an interview with a gay and lesbian web magazine that he has been in a 18-year relationship with his manager Brad Altman.
Takei said, “We’ve talked about marriage, but I want to do it where my life is. I know I can go to Massachusetts or to Canada, but I’m a second-generation Californian.” After California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, Takei decided to take action and come out of the closet.
